Intro to Photography in the Field
Follow-up sessions with Monica Lopossay for people who want to make more intentional images: noticing light, place, feeling, and the reason a moment asks to be photographed.
The idea
The photograph starts before the button.
This is a practical class, but it is also about attention.
We will walk slowly, look at what pulls us in, make photographs, and talk about what each image is trying to hold.
After the walk we will sit in a nearby cafe and edit together, identifying key moments and editing decisions needed to transform your moments into impactful images.
Format
A walk, a pause, then an edit.
Time
12:30-3:00pm for each listed session.
Group size
Maximum four students, so the class stays personal.
Session flow
Photo walk first, then cafe editing and discussion.
Weather
Outdoor route, with a sensible morning weather call.

Price is NZ$149 per person, GST included. After booking, you will receive a Stripe receipt straight away. Monica will follow up with a personal confirmation email, including the exact meeting point and any final details, before the session.

Prerequisite
Completion of Monica's smartphone photography fundamentals class, or equivalent experience.
Weather
Monica will make the weather call by 8:30am on the morning of the class. If the weather is poor, the session will be cancelled or rescheduled. We do not need to go out in bad weather.
Cancellations
Because each session has only four places, please give as much notice as possible if you cannot attend. Cancellations more than 48 hours before the class can be refunded or moved to a future date, less any unrecoverable payment fees. Stripe processing fees are not returned, and card refunds can take around 5-10 business days to appear. Cancellations within 48 hours and no-shows are not normally refundable.
Bring
A fully charged smartphone, any editing app you already like to use, comfortable shoes, and warm layers for being outdoors. Cafe purchases are optional.
